British band Sports Team has a terrifying encounter on their US tour
British indie sensation Sports Team faced a harrowing experience on the first day of their US tour. The acclaimed group, known for their chart-topping albums in the UK, had a shocking encounter while stopping for coffee at a Starbucks in Vallejo, California. Their van was raided, and their passports, equipment, and personal belongings were stolen at gunpoint.
Lead singer Alex Rice recounted the terrifying incident to the BBC, highlighting the surreal calmness of the bystanders amidst the chaos. The band’s peaceful coffee break quickly turned into a nightmare.
As the band was preparing for their show in Sacramento, a passerby alerted them to the ongoing robbery at their van. The unfolding events left them in a state of shock and disbelief.
Drummer Al Greenwood vividly described the tense moment: « I genuinely feared for our safety as the situation escalated. It felt like a scene from a movie, yet it was our reality. »
